How does the wall work...
The wall works like a round robin, where photos posted will move from the top to the bottom before then falling off the bottom of the wall completely. How long your photo remains on the wall depends on how many photos are loaded by others after you.
How do I upload a photo...
It's easy! Just use the Browse button (next to the Photo To Upload field) to find the photo you wish to upload from your computer to the Photo Wall. A normal open dialog box will come up that you can use to locate the photo. Fill out the rest of the form and then click Submit.
REMEMBER: The photo MUST be a .jpg (or .jpeg)!
What can I upload...
Please see the Posting Guidelines for guidance on what is and is not appropriate.
Some Tips...
While you can just upload a photo to the wall there are some things you can do BEFORE you upload, that can make for a better photo! Consider:
- If you reduce the size before trying to upload them, the time required will be much less.
- Consider cropping a photo to better focus on what in the photo you wish to emphasize.
- Remember also that "normal" screen resolution when viewing a photo on the web is 72 to 96 dpi NOT 300 plus dpi!
How we protect email addresses...
We protect your privacy as we do not display email addresses, both for those posting photos or those commenting on them. Instead, we store them on our server so that when someone comments on a photo the email addresses are then retrieved and an email is send from our site to the original poster of the photo. The person commenting on your photo will never see your email address UNLESS you reply to them. You can however, hit your email program's reply button and reply back to the person commenting on your photo IF they have included their email address with their comment.
Photo comments...
Each active photo on the wall has a comment area for that photo. As well as being able to view the comments on the photo wall, all comments are also automatically emailed to the original poster of the photo, IF you included your email address when you posted the photo. The subject line of the email from us will read: "Your photo received a comment!".
You can disable this feature by deselecting the " Receive comments by email?" check box on the submit photo form, if you do not wish to receive comments made to your photos by email. We suggest you do however, as even if your photo goes off the wall before you get back to the wall to check, you will still be able to read any comments via email.
For those making comments, remember even if the photo goes off the wall before the owner can read your comments on the photo wall, your comments will still reach the owner via email! In this way your comments are never wasted! Also, if you include your email address then the owner of the photo can email you back if they desire.
My photo was resized...
We do this to control photo size. Often people will try and upload their pictures right off their multi-mega pixel digital cameras with the results of picture sizes being MUCH larger than is appropriate for the web. By resizing all uploaded photos the speed they load when viewed by others is improved, and the bandwidth used to run the wall made more manageable.
I get the message "You've reached the maximum number of photos..."
We can limit the number of photos any one person can upload to the wall at any one time. The limit, if set, will depend on the number we feel necessary to make it fair to everyone. Once one or more of your photos fall off the wall, you can then upload more photos until that limit of the total photos you can have on the wall at any one time, is once again reached.
Where are the archives...
There are NO archives of photos that fall off the wall as its intent is not to become a large photo gallery. Instead it's a quick and easy way to share photos with others in the community for a limited amount of time. Remember we are a free site and photos can quickly eat up bandwidth, so we use this method to limit the number of photos up at any one time.
I've found a bug in the software...
Let us know by Contacting Us and telling us of the problem. Please include as much information as to what you were doing when you found the problem. Also what browser and operating system you are using. Thanks!
I have a suggestion...
Have a good idea on how we can improve the Photo Wall, then by all means Contact Us and let us know your idea! Thanks!
Will other features be added in the future...
Yes, more features will be added to the Photo Wall as the need is identified and time permits. Again, remember we are a free forum and we wish to remain that way. So we are feeling out our way on this feature, both in terms of bandwidth and time needed to moderate it.
